Why work with Choice Health?

Many healthcare organizations lack the in-house capability to analyse a wide range of sub-specialties, and can’t rely on generalist doctors for every diagnosis.

Missing out on expert analysis can mean you’re at the mercy of the local doctor wherever in the world the patient is located. Local care standards may not be acceptable to you, and you need to minimize risk of litigation.

Our extensive, expert specialist team includes the most experienced and trusted GMC registered consultants. Our easy-to-use technology means you waste no time sending and receiving data, and our ability to respond quickly and turnaround reports rapidly means that patients get the speedy attention they need.

Meet with specialists in real-time via video consults

Avoid hiring full-time specialists when only needed part-time

Mitigate risk by having the most appropriate medical opinions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is teleradiology?

Teleradiology is the transmission and display of radiological images, such as CT scans and X-Rays, in a location independent of the location the patient is imaged. It allows specialist doctors (Radiologists) to provide an expert and timely report to allow clinicians to decide on the best treatment for their patients.

How does teleradiology work?

  • Patient scanned in a healthcare facility
  • Images transmitted to our support team, who send them on to the most appropriate specialist from our team of 100+ leading reporters
  • Expert reporter reviews the images and the patient’s clinical history and creates a report detailing what the images show
  • Report sent back to clinician to inform patient treatment

How do remote telehealth video consultations work?

  • Patient diagnostics (scans etc) are performed in local healthcare facility
  • Images and data are sent (encrypted) into our secure cloud while our support team matches the most appropriate specialist from our team of 100+ leading reporters
  • Expert(s) review the images and the patient’s clinical history and determines if a desktop review or video consultation is required (and subsequently booked through our support team).
  • Review completed and a detailed report is sent back to clinician to inform patient treatment

How secure are my medical images and data with Choice Health?

Choice TeleMed’s Medical Imaging Management Platform service for sharing, storing and managing Medical Images (Radiology, Cardiology and other Medical Picture types) is in full compliance with relevant UK cloud service security requirements. The service:

  • Is a hosted cloud service accessible only over HTTPS/SSL encrypted connection.
  • Is 2FA configurable per account, with enforced ‘Strong’ passwords and their periodic renewal.
  • Is approved (Technically and DPIA) by numerous NHS Trusts and Private healthcare providers nationally.
  • Meets UK Healthcare security standards for information Governance, GDPR, cloud-service ‘best practice’ for application methodology and architecture.
  • Is hosted at UKCloud, a Crown Campus data centre co-hosting numerous HM Government Public Services, Genomics England, and numerous NHS used apps
  • Is ISO27001 and ISO9001 accredited
  • Is FDA 21CFR Part11 accredited
  • Is G-Cloud 10 and 11 approved and listed
  • All instances globally are HIPAA, IHE, DICOM, HL7 and Vendor-Neutral compliant.
  • The eTransfer solution and usage of the application platform at the heart of Choice’s cloud services are encrypted at all times – whether data is in transit or at rest. System, data, communication, user, storage and platform security can be explained in further technical detail on request. Our service is used extensively by UK healthcare organisations and is also embedded directly into health applications they use. Globally, the cloud platform hosts over 7bn images for 2,500+ hospitals and imaging orgs, 600+ Clinical Trials and over 5,000 clinics. Over 100,000 web-uploads occur per month currently serving a community of circa 750,000 clinical user logins per month.

What are Choice Health’s Information Governance and Data Security considerations?

It is a requirement to clearly define that the medical imaging data and patient data is securely transmitted (via end to end encryption) to be stored in a UK Tier 3 data centre. It is also possible to either review medical imaging on the host provider system, or enable our platform to a local data storage provider eg AWS to ensure medical data doesn’t leave your country. Once in our secure data centres, any data or images will not leave that data centre and are only reviewed in the cloud within the data centre (ie. The local specialist reviewing is not downloading or caching the PID locally).

How does Telehealth operate with Choice Health?

Our secure platform enables the electronic transmission of patient medical data including any imaging from any location to another, for the purposes of diagnostic interpretation and review by highly-qualified medical experts. Through teleradiology, images can be transmitted from the remote setting, where the images are created, to a reporter who can review and report on the images remotely. Our experts, all specialising in their relevant field, typically review the images and other diagnostic test outputs from their own home in advance of a full video consult (medic to specialist).

How does telehealth improve patient care?

Telehealth improves patient care by enabling reporters to provide their services remotely, thereby facilitating the rapid delivery of the most appropriate and available specialist 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

How does telehealth address inequalities in healthcare?

Inequality in healthcare between countries is well documented and often within countries heathcare is a postcode lottery. If you are from a more socio-economic background and living in a more expensive or affluent area you are more likely to be living closer to a specialist centre with specialist living close by. Telehealth reduces said inequality by enabling access to the most appropriate and available specialist regardless of location

How does telehealth help the environment?

Choice’s telehealth services cover territories where advanced specialists are not readily available. Hence the traditional solution is flying the patient to the specialist. This is an extremely environmentally unfriendly way of providing specialist care. With telehealth, a video consultation between the patient’s local medic and Choice Health’s remote specialist can quickly determine the optimal care pathway while also helping the environment, aligned with Choice’s goal of achieving Net Zero objective.

Everyone should have a choice to access world leading healthcare specialists, no matter where you are.
